As an aggressive young 18-year old midfielder from Gunma prefecture, Takeshi Aoki caught Zico's eye at a very early stage, and was brought into the starting team as a rookie. Aoki has made a name for himself as a member of Japan's U-20 and U-23 team, where he has played both at midfield and in central defence. His flexibility has proven very valuable for the Antlers, and he has filled in at wing back, central defender and even attacking midfield in cases when the team was shorthanded due to injury. Though he has yet to win any caps for the full NT, Aoki has bright prospects for the future, and may reach the full NT level in the near future.
