Kataoka was converted from a fledgling centre half into a defensive midfielder last season with promising results. Tenacious in the tackle and armed with a thunderous shot, Kataoka has his fair share of admirers in the orange part of Saitama and managed to cling on to his starting spot all season. Whereas he is capable of spectacular goals -- such as his magnificent free-kick against Urawa Reds in the 2005 Emperor's Cup semi-final and a goal against Cerezo Osaka last year that was voted goal of the season -- his passing can sometimes be inconsistent. Nevertheless, he will probably maintain a starting spot in 2007. | |
