Stadiums in Japan: Tottori "Bird" Stadium

Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture

Tottori "Bird" Stadium is one of several venues which demonstrates that the JFL enjoys nearly as much variety and quality in sports facilities as even the J.League. Although it is not football-only, Bird Stadium has a very cozy feel to it, and the unique design of the central roof sets it apart from the crowd of similar, small-town athletic stadiums.

Bird Stadium is a bit off the beaten track, but its high-quality sporting facilities (including training rooms and other practice fields) was impressive enough to lure the Ecuador national team to use the location for its base camp in 2002. The stadium is about a 15 minute walk from the nearest train station, but it is served by city buses and is reasonably convenient to get to..
