Michael Owen has said that he may leave Liverpool for an overseas club once his contract is up.
The 18 year old England striker who is currently tied to his contract until the year 2002 has said that he wants to win trophies, something that he has yet to achieve with Liverpool. They are at present mid-table in the Premiership, have been knocked out of the League Cup and could be knocked out of the UEFA cup this week leaving just the FA cup.
If Liverpool wanted to hold on to Owen or avoid his walking out on the club under the Bosman ruling then they would have to get him to sign a new contract realistically by 2001. Another solution would be for Liverpool to start winning trophies.
