Ilie will sit out January with ankle pain

Valencia and Romania striker Adrian Ilie will miss the next five weeks of the season with an ankle injury.

He limped offf after only 18 minutes of the 2-1 defeat against Espanyol but tests revealed no damage to the bone or muscle or ligament tear. Severe bruising will make him unavailable for January and Ilie has been sent home to rest and recover. The ankle has not been put in plaster.
