Okocha set for Paris match

First Published: Jul 28, 1998

Nigerian midfield star Jay Jay Okocha will quit Turkish football this week to sign for Paris St. Germain.

Okocha impressed with his displays in the recent World Cup for the poorly prepared and disorganised Nigeria side and he now looks set to start a career in French football.

No fee has been agreed yet between Fenerbahce and the Paris side but Okocha is keen to go. He will swap involvement in the Champions League with Fenerbahce, who finished as runners-up in Turkey last season, for a place in the European Cup for Cup Winners with his new side. Paris won the French Cup last season with a 2-1 win in the final to deny Lens a league and cup double and rescue a disappointing season for the club from the capital.
