San Marino went the same way as previous Cypriot opposition Spain - but the performances were completely different.

Cyprus struggled to achieve anything like the flow and speed they found themselves capable of against the Spain side last September in their shock 3-2 win and ended up crawling past a weak San Marino side.

Milenko Spoliaric headed the winner from a freekick four minutes before the interval and at least Cyprus can say they converted their best chance - they made few others on thre night and almost conceded an equaliser when Paolo Monagna's shot hit the goalkeeper.
