FYR Macedonia survived late scares against Malta to socre a Euro 2000 win.
The action in the game was confined to the second half and Igor Nikoluski put the visitors into the lead with an effort on the turn that broke the deadlock. Zahaniewski added a second in the 62nd minute when he met a high cross to power the ball in but Paul Sixsmith rallied Malta to an attacking finish with his 69th minute strike but they could not overturn a deserved Macedonian win earned by their patient possession and good movement.
