England safe from Robson

First Published: Oct 20, 1998

Middlesbrough manager Bryan Robson has signed a new five year contract with the club.

The Premier division side are worried that Robson, who joined the club in 1993, could become the next England manager. Current England coach Glenn Hoddle has faced enormous criticism over the last couple of weeks over his handling of the national side and could resign or indeed be sacked if any further Euro 2000 results result in weakening England’s qualification chances further.

Robson is seen by many as the ideal successor to Hoddle after twice getting the north east side into the Premiership and reaching three Wembley cup finals.
