Milan wait on Kiev defeat to seal Shevchenko move

First Published: Oct 22, 1998

AC Milan will complete the signing of Ukrainian star Andriiy Shevchenko when Dinamo Kiev are knocked out of the Champions' League.

Shevchenko gave another starring performance which underlined his massive potential last night at Wembley against Arsenal in a 1-1 draw. He in fact scored the winning goal after an exceptional reverse pas put him clear for a cool finish but it was mistakenly ruled out by a linesman for offside. Two players were playing the 22 striker on side but the result still keeps Kiev in contention to qualify for the last eight. They must win in two weeks time at home to Arsenal to stand a chance of making progress.

Milan will offload George Weah to make way for the £11 million rated star who is regarded as the top young player in Europe in his position.
