The DFB will confirm by tomorrow that former great Franz Beckenbauer will be their new Vice President.
Beckenbauer, one of the greatest players of all time and a legendary figure in German sport, is also likely to have a role overseeing the national side after their recent disappointments against Croatia and Turkey and the appointment of new coach Erich Ribbeck - who was not Beckenbauer's favourite to take the job when Berti Vogts resigned.
The DFB are meeting to discuss the state of German football and the creation of the Vice Presidency is top of the agenda. Beckenbauer will keep some duties with Bayern Munich where he is club president as well.
