Blackburn Rovers have spent £6.5 million for England striker Dion Dublin.
Coventry City were tempted to sell by the massive bid for their 29 year old captain who can play as a central defender or attacker as they know it will be hard to get such a sum once he passes thirty.
Dublin signed a five year contract to stay with Coventry last season after twice planning to leave the club. He has been a consistently high scorer for the frequently struggling side over the past four years and his departure will anger the Coventry fans. Dublin made it to the brink of the final 22 English players to go to France in the World Cup last summer.
Blackburn would be buying him as a striker rather than a defender to replace Chris Sutton who is set for a £10 million plus move to Premiership leaders Aston Villa.
