Bayern fine Matthaeus for skiing trip

Bayern Munich have fined Lothar Matthaeus £4,000 after he went skiing instead of playing for the team.

The 37 year old former World Cup winner is expected back in the German national squad for friendly matches before the end of the year but told Munich last season that he was injured but went on a family skiing trip.
