Aston Villa join Dublin bidders

English Premiership leaders Aston Villa have made an offer to buy Coventry City captain Dion Dublin.

The move comes as Blackburn Rovers remain the only club to have had a bid accepted by Coventry at £6.75 million even though Dublin yesterday met Newcastle representatives to discuss a move to the North East to join Ruud Gullit's side.

Villa and Newcastle believe they can sign the player for around £5 million if he wants to join them but Coventry do not want to accept a lower price.
