Real Madrid have offered midfielder Clarence Seedoerf to Newcastle United after another confrontation with coach John Toshack.

Toshack was angered by the performance of his players in the draw against Salamanca and branded them "bastards" after the game in front of surprised reporters.

The players complained to club president Lorenzo Sanz but action against Toshack looks unlikely with Seedorf identified as a major source of trouble in the Real dressing room. The club still have an outside chance of making it into the Champions League next season with a third place finish - they are only one pint behind third place Mallorca but Toshack is now starting to openly question the attitude of his players.

Newcastle's Dutch coach Ruud Gullit is familiar with Seedorf's game and recent problems at Real. SS Lazio and Arsenal have already rejected offers from Real to take the player off their hands in the summer but Gullit may feel he would be a good addition to his squad at £6 million.
