Georgia 1 Norway 4, April 28th 1999

Premiership stars poured in the goals in the first half in Tbilisi to ease any Norwegian nerves about this away game against a Georgia side that looked in complete disarray.

Tore Andre Flo struck twice with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Steffen Iversen providing a goal each as the visitors did what they liked in the opposition penalty area.

The win takes Norway to the top of Group Two but they have played a game more than rivals Latvia.

The Norwegian formation was designed for attacking and they will prove a real threat in the competitions later stages if they continue with two withdrawn strikers supporting the runs of Flo.

That combination overwhelmed the home side after only seventy seconds but Solskjaer screwed his shot wide. In the 15th minute Iversen found the net with a low drive and Flo was gifted his first goal after collecting a rebound on the half hour from Solbakken's show. Earlier Dzamarauli had been put clean through but only managed to hit the post.

Solskjaer claimed a goal from a defleted shot but Flo hit the goal of the evening after another of his mazy loose legged run took him clear of the Georgian defence before he hit a high drive into the roof of the net.

Dzanashi managed a consolation goal in the 57th minute but the damage Norway had visited on the home defence could not be repaired.
