Morocco celebrated their bid to host the 2006 World Cup with a fine win against the Dutch in Arnhem.
Angry home fans clashed with police in fighting outside the ground after this result on a night Duttch foootball will want to forget. Morocco exposed a certain lack of depth in the Dutch talent pool and champions Feyenoord were left to provide the bulk of the side fielded by coach Frank Rijkaard and the celebrations follwig their championship win at the weekend seemed to dull their performances.
Morocco's best player on the night - Mustapha El Hadji - scored one and made the other. On 59 minutes he followed in a chip over van der Sar in the Dutch goal to convert a difficult chance and his pass to Bassir ten minutes later produced a neat finish from the forward.
Van Nistelrooy's volley in the last minute brought little consolation for the Dutch who were passed to pieces by the fast African side at times. The Dutch players made it look as if they really had played a long hard season in the Europe leagues.
