Owen and McManaman on way back for England

First Published: Aug 25, 1999

England goalkeeper David Seaman and defender Tony Adams have been declared fit to join the England squad.

Both players have overcome recent injuries, Seaman with a calf injury and Adams, recovering from a hernia operation. Coach Kevin Keegan names his full team tomorrow afternoon and is sure to include the veteran full back and Seaman who will pick up his 53rd cap for England if he plays against Luxembourg on September 4th. Sol Campbell has also declared himself fit to join the team and Graham Le Saux could be called up although there is still some doubt over his fitness.

Michael Owen looks likely to feature in Keegans line-up following a successful game last night. The 19 year old striker who scored a goal in the 4-0 friendly win against Crewe will probably be used as substitute in the match against Luxmebourg and then feature more prominently in the crucial Euro 2000 match against Poland four days later.

Steve McManaman is also in line for a England call-up following a good start to the season and some excellent play in last nights friendly match against AC Milan.
