Derby target Babb
First Published: Aug 31, 1999Derby County are preparing a £1.5 million offer for Liverpool defender Phil Babb.
The Republic of Ireland international is now with his national team as they prepare for tomorrow night's Euro 2000 tie against Yugoslavia in Dublin but Derby hope to sign the layer in time for the resumption of the league season on September 11th.
The club have three more matches to try and resolve the transfer wrangle concerning Argentinian striker Esteban Fuertes. he scored the winner for the club in their home game against Derby on Saturday but has only been loaned for another three matches by the Argentine FA as Derby try to work out a transfer fee with Colon De Sante Fe and two other clubs who own a share of the forward.
