Liverpool suffer Redknapp injury set back

Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp is out of action until at least March.

The Anfield club had expected the England player to be fit to return in January after a knee operation but a poor diagnosis for the player on damage to cartilage in his joint will see him miss at least the next two months of the season and will see Redknapp miss the visit of Argentina to play at Wembley in February.

Redknapp has failed to convince in his displays for the English midfield and was forced out of position onto the left side by several injuries. He underwent surgery on Monday and has been released from hospital on crutches but the injury was worse that originally thought and England will look for other solutions to their midfield problems against the South Americans.

Liverpool host struggling Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday afternoon but in better news for the club striker Robbie Fowler is set to play some part after his recovery from knee surgery.
