Manchester United star David Beckham has been banned from driving for eight months after a speeding conviction.
Beckham was outstanding in United's 3-0 romp in the Champions League last night against Valencia but the driving ban was imposed after the 24 year old was caught speeding in his top-of-the-range £750,000 Ferrari earlier this year. The England player's appeal against the decision will be heard next Thursday.
Team mate Andy Cole was banned for a similar offence on Tuesday and Beckham was fined £800 as well to cover court costs. Beckham claimed he was driving at 74mph in a 50 mph zone to avoid the attentions of a photographer.
