The transfer of Steve McManaman from Liverpool to Real Madrid will not be threatened by the expected appointment of a new coach to replace Guus Hiddink.
The transfer of the England midfielder under the Bosman ruling is set to take place in June but Hiddink was the prime mover in bringing McManaman to the Spanish giants. He is on the brink of dismissal after a 3-0 defeat against FC Barcelona last weekend with Fabio Capello favourite to take charge. The McManaman arrangement would be presented to the new man in charge as a fait accompli but the Englishman may find it harder to impress the new man in charge and will be seen as one of Hiddink's legacies to the club.
