Israel cruised to a convincing 2-0 win over Latvia with both goals coming in a first half spell of four minutes.
Quick passing and running off the ball allowed the home team to establish superiority in Jerusalem last night and they cashed in from the 24th minute when a high cross from Banin reached star striker Haim Revivo. He worked the space to create a goal by chesting the ball down to his feet and driving low past Latvian goalkeeper Aleksandr Kolinko.
Revivo - the outstanding Israeli player on the night set up a second three minutes later. He passed forward to Ronnen Harazi who had his back to goal and his shot on the turn was deflected into the net. Latvian midfielder and captain Vladimir Babicevs hit a post from a freekick on the half hour mark.
