Germany announce squad for US trip

Germany have annnounced their 21 man squad for the trip to the USA next week.

Coach Erich Ribbeck's side will play against the US national team in Miami on February 8th.

Christian Woerns is recalled in defence although doubts continue to emerge about his future with PSG in France and veteran Lothar Matthaeus is also included in the party. Michael Ballack and Marco Reich from Kaiserslautern have been included and there is a call-up for Hertha Berlin striker Michael Preetz who is in line for a debut. The emphasis on young striking talent continues with the inclusion of Bode and Zickler while Oliver Neuville retains his place in the squad.

The squad in full: -

Goalkeepers: Kahn (Bayern Munich) and Lehmann (Borussia Dortmund).

Defenders: Babbel and Matthaeus ( both Bayern Munich), Rehmer (Hansa Rostock) and Woerns (PSG).

Midfielders: Ballack and Reich (both Kaiserslautern), Beinlich and Ramelow (both Bayer Leverkusen), Jeremies (Bayern Munich), Moeller, Nerlinger and Ricken (all Borussia Dortmund), Schneider (Eintracht Frankfurt). Forwards: Bode (Werder Bremen), Zickler (Bayern Munich), Kirsten (Bayer Leverkusen), Marschall (Kaiserslautern), Neuville (Hansa Rostock) and Preetz (Hertha Berlino).
