Carew on way to Rosenborg

First Published: Jul 28, 1999

Norwegian champions Rosenborg will pay Valerenga £2.5 million for their tall teenage striker John Carew.

The 6'5" Carew turned down a move to Strasbourg early last week and claimed he would rather sign for the Trondheim club Rosenborg and that deal has now been settled.

The raw 19 year old has a good scoring record with his Oslo outfit and was the subject of two recent bids by Bologna. Wimbledon in the Premiership have also looked at the player who was scouted last year by AC Milan and who is regarded as the best young forward in Norwegian football.
