Panathinaikos in talks to sign Djorkaeff

First Published: Jul 29, 1999

Panathinaikos have entered a second week of talks with Internazionale in a bid to sign French international Youri Djorkaeff.

The former PSG star has rejected a move to Athens already this summer after an approach by Greek champions Olympiakos but Panathinaikos are serious in their bid to buy the player who said last April that he would never play again for Inter.

Manchester United pulled out of their interest in the striker ten days ago and Panathinaikos are hoping to sign Djorkaeff for around £6.5 million in the next week but Tottenham are still interested in the 31 year old.
