Fiorentina have stepped up their interest in two Parma AC strikers after the signing of Yugoslav star Predrag Mijatovic from Real Madrid yesterday.
The purchase of Mijatovic was thought to end the Florentine's interest in Italian international Enrico Chiesa and veteran striker Abel Balbo but both buys are back on for La Viola.
A £16 million bid for the pair has been lodged with Parma AC who have complicated any deal by introducing former Valencia striker Ariel Ortega into the equation. The Argentine was relegated with Sampdoria from Serie A in April but Parma want to buy him for around £9 million from the Genoa club. The Parma interest has already knocked River Plate out of the running to bring Ortega back to Argentina. Clearing out two strikers - even the highly rated Chiesa - would clear places in the Parma squad for the arrival of Ortega to play behind the strikers from midfield.
