Rapid Vienna have signed for AC Milan star Dejan Savicevic.
Rapid's sporting director Stefan Ebner has been in talks with the Yugoslav international for the past two weeks and personal terms have now been agreed for the 32 year old to sign an annual contract with the Austrian club with an option to renew at the end of the next three seasons.
Savicevic was instrumental in Milan's devastation of FC Barcelona in the 1994 European Cup final with one of the finest solo displays seen in the recent years of that competition but injuries and depression hindered his last two seasons with the Italian club before a move back to Yugoslavia with Red Star.
The midfielder rejected the chance to return to Italy with Perugia and an offer from PAOK Salonika and Fenerbahce to enter the Champions League next season with Rapid and the competition that saw his finest hour five years ago in an Athens final.
