Belgium were unable to recover from the concession of an early goal to Bulgaria to continue a poor run as they prepare for Euro 2000 next summer.

Hristo Stoichkov hit a free kick against the defensive wall in the 10th minute and the deflection wrong footed the home defence who could only watch Hristo Iovov sweep the ball into the net.

The home side then took control as the Bulgarians became lazy and disinterested in this friendly but were unable to produce a clear cut chance that could have seen them go on to win this match. Walter Baseggio got the ball into the net but it was ruled offside in the 21st minute and the Belgians still have problems in attack after five poor friendly displays now.
