Alon Mizrahi came into this game to settle the result with two goals in the second half.

Israel deserved the win that keeps them ahead of a resurgent Spain and cuts the Cypriot lead at the top of group six to two points. Israel and Austria have played a game less while Spain are sure to use the springboard of the 9-0 demolition of Austria to get back into contention.

Captain Tal Banin scored the best goal of the night in the 11th minute. He hit right through the ball to send it high into the net from well outside the penalty area but it was the introduction of Mizrahi that secured the points. In the 47th minute he ran in to convert a cross and six minutes later Liverpool transfer target Eyal Berkovic threaded a pass for him to sweep the ball high into the net in an excellent finish on the run.
