Liverpool consider Worns - again

Any Fiorentina bid for PSG defender Christian Worns could be matched by Liverpool as the club try again to sign the German international.

Worns rejected a move to the Premiership with the Anfield club last summer but his move to Paris will end after only one season.

Fiorentina are keen to sign the player but Liverpool are convinced that they can tempt the 26 year old who has already priced himself out of a move to Bayern Munich this season.

Liverpool identified Worns last year when he played for Bayer Leverkusen as the player to put in the centre of their defence and after failing to land considered a host of other candidates with no success. This season has been marred by weak defensive displays from the team which eventually led to French coach Gerard Houllier replacing Roy Evans in sole charge of the first team.

Fiorentina were considering a £6 million offer for Worns last week but the Liverpool coached watched him play for Germany in a 3-0 win against Northern Ireland on Saturday.
