France rule out Zidane return

France ruled out a Euro 2000 comeback for world player of the year Zinedine Zidane this morning.

The World Cup holders were optimistic yesterday that the Juventus midfielder could be fit to play against Armenia tomorrow night but he is not yet fit to play after a recent knee injury. There are now doubts about his fitness for the Champions Cup semi final next week against Manchester United at Old Trafford and he will leave the French camp tonight to return to Juventus for more treatment.
