Poland 0 Sweden 1, March 31st 1999

Sweden took complete control of group five with a commanding performance against Poland.

The Poles are now struggling to make an impression in the group after a strong start and the Swedes produced a strong counter attacking show to defeat them tonight.

Frederick Ljungberg scored the winner with a low drive on the half hour mark and the blow seemed to deflate Poland who struggled to make meaningful attacks afterwards.

The Swedes were able to withstand any pressure and they are now a fast and direct side with a confidence that could see them go a long way in the competition. Their physical strength was also to much for the Poles who have now suffered two defeats in four days.
