Liverpool ahave agreed a fee of £3.75 million with French champions RC Lens for their Czech midfielder Vladimir Smicer.

The agreement frees the former Slavia Prague player to make the move he wanted to the Premiership. Liverpool have been trying to sign the 27 year old for the past six weeks and refused to be put off their hunt for a replacement for Steve McManaman by Lens' £10 million valuation of the Czech two months ago. Smicer rejected a move top PSG last week to enable Liverpool to continue their pursuit. He will travel to Merseyside next week to complete the formalities of signing before a last game for Lens and international duty next month with the Czechs in two Euro 20900 qualifiers.
