Arsenal complete Luzhny capture

First Published: May 28, 1999

Arsenal have completed the signing of Kyiv Dynamo full back Oleg Luzhny.

The London side have not confirmed a transfer fee for the Ukranian international but the 32 year old has cost the club around £2 million and has a three year deal with Arsene Wenger's side. Luzhny had been a target for Newcastle United until three weeks ago when Arsenal stepped in to negotiate with the player who performed well against them in the Champions League last autumn. Newcastle will try again to sign Bayern Munich defender Markus Babbel who rejected a move to the club and England last summer.
