The Republic of Ireland have complained to UEFA after their European Championships play-off in Turkey ended in anarchic and violent scenes at the Attaturk stadium in Bursa.
The Euro 200 decider ended 0-0 with Turkey going through to the December 12th draw for the finals next summer on the away goal rule after a 1-1 draw in Dublin last Saturday.
Fans ran onto the pitch to celebrate but then a violent clash centring on irish striker Tony Cascarino took place. Cascarino was kicked by defender Ali Eren after the game and then punched the Turk leading a fan to attack the striker.
Cascarino also confronted a Turkish substitute who joined Ali Eren in the initial attack and the two teams were surrounded by armed police as they faught on the pitch. Irish sub Cascarino was cut on the face and Turkey face a fine.
