Sweden stick with Allback in attack

First Published: Apr 18, 2000

Sweden coach Tommy Soderberg has turned to the Ogryte club to try and find a forward star for the Euro 2000 finals.

26 year old Marcus Allback hit 14 goals in the Swedish league last season and scored the goal that beat Denmark in a La Manga friendly at the start of the year on his international debut. Soderberg told reporters yesterday that he considered Celtic striker Henrik Larsson had a slim chance of being fit for the Euro finals in June. Larsson told the Scottish press last week that he was certain to miss the tournament after a recent injury suffered in the reserves as he made his comeback from a double leg break suffered last October.
