Lemerre drops Wiltord from French squad

French coach Roger Lemerre has stuck by his decision to dump Real Madrid striker Nicolas Anelka for a friendly against Slovenia next week.

Anelka was taken out of French squad selection for the 2-0 win in Scotland last month after picking up a 45 day ban from Real for refusing to train. he 20 year old ended up serving 27 days of the suspension and being fined heavily for his dissent.

Lemerre has also dumped Sylvain Wiltord from his squad after the striker went into another dispute over wages and contract terms with Bordeaux so Lyon's Tony Vairelles has been recalled after playing against Poland in january.

Bayern Munich defender Bixente Lizarazu has a groin strain and may not be fit for the game in Paris.

The squad in full -

Goalkeepers - Barthez and Rame.

Defenders - Blanc, Desailly, Leboeuf, Djetou, Lizarazu and Thuram.

Midfielders - Micoud, Deschamps, Petit, Vieira and Zidane

Strikers - Vairelles, Dugarry, Henry, Pires and Trezeguet.
