Yugoslav international Sinisa Mihajlovic has decided to quit Euro 2000 unless claims from Belgrade that he has joined the Serbian Socialist Party are denied.
The Socialist party are led by Serb president Slobodan Milosevic and television stations eported earlier this week that SS Lazio star Mihajlovic had applied to join the ruling party.
Mihajlovic is angry at the reports and told Italian reporters yesterday that he was approached to be an unofficial 'sporting ambassador' for Yugoslavia and had agreed.
The player - who holds the Serie A record for scoring from free kicks - wants the matter settled by the weekend or he will quit the national team.
