New squad for Belgium against Portugal

First Published: Feb 19, 2000

Belgium have announced their squad for a Charleroi friendly against fellow Euro 2000 competitors Portugal.

Coach Robert Waseige has made six changes from the selection that went to Lecce in November and beat Italy 3-1 in a convincing display.

Philippe Leonard from AS Monaco comes into the squad as does Danny Boffin and has left Enzo Scifo and Luc Nilis out of his choice to look as younger players but both are obvious selections for the finals which start on June 10th.

The squad in full -

Goalkeepers - De Wilde and Gaspercic.

Defenders - Boffin, Genaux, Leonard, Jacky, Peeters, Staelens, Valgaeren, Van Meir.

Midfielders - Wilmots, Clement, Goor, Tanghe, Vanderhaeghe, Verheyen.

Strikers - Brogno, De Bilde, Mpenza, Mbo Mpenza, Strupar.
