Italy name squad to play Sweden

First Published: Feb 20, 2000

Italy coach Dino Zoff has named his squad to face Sweden in Palermo on Wednesday night.

Both sides are preparing for the Euro 2000 finals which start on June 10th but Italy are trying to recover from a 3-1 defeat last November in Lecce against Belgium.

The only new cap is Udinese midfielder Stefano Fiore with AC Milan veteran Demetrio Albertini dropped by Zoff.

Parma AC midfielder Dino Baggio was dumped from the squad for this game last month after making a bribe gesture at a referee in a 1-1 draw with Juventus.

The squad will meet tomorrow morning at Fiorentina's Coverciano training complex to prepare for the game.

The squad in full -

Goalkeepers - Buffon and Toldo.

Defenders - Maldini, Nesta, Panucci, Cannavaro, Negro and Ferrara.

Midfielders - Fuser, Pessotto, Conte, Tacchinardi, Fiore, Locatelli and Ambrosini.

Strikers - Vieri, F. Inzaghi, Del Piero, Montella and Totti.
