Schalke pull Mpenza out of Belgium squad

Schalke 04 striker Emile Mpenza has pulled out of the Belgian squad to play Portugal in Charleroi tomorrow night.

Mpenza was injured in a Bundesliga game on Friday night and has been replaced by coach Robert Waseige with Michael Goosens of Standard Liege. Schalke swapped Goosens for Mpenza in December and paid a Belgian record £6 million for the striker whose brother also plays for the Euro 2000 co-hosts.
