Holland lose De Boer for Germany clash

First Published: Feb 22, 2000

Holland have suffered two injuries as they prepare for an Amsterdam game with Germany tomorrow night.

FC Barcelona centre back Frank De Boer strained ankle ligaments in his side's 4-0 win over Valladolid while second string striker Pierre Van Hooijdonk also suffered an ankle problem in a defeat at league leaders PSV Eindhoven with his club Vitesse Arnhem.

Dutch coach Frank Rijkaard is set to pair Dennis Bergkamp with PSV striker Ruud van Nistelrooy against the 1996 European champions. The PSV striker has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer after denying that their London rivals Chelsea had made contact about a £20 million transfer to them after Euro 2000.
