Valencia sign Carew on pre contract

Valencia have agreed a £5.5 million fee with Rosenborg of Trondheim to sign striker John Carew.

Borussia Dortmund failed last week in their bid for the 6'4" former Valerenga striker who was linked with Juventus last year.

Carew has agreed a pre contract deal to join the Champions League quarter finalists in the summer as they expect to lose Claudio Lopez to SS Lazio in a £22 million transfer set for June.

Dortmund failed to meet the asking price set by the Norwegian club but Valencia are traditionally big spending club. They face SS Lazio in the last eight of the Champions League next month.
