Vieri and Maldini worry Italy with injuries

First Published: May 24, 2000

Italy are worrying over the fitness of two top stars as they start preparations for Euro 2000.

Both Paolo Maldini and Christian Vieri are struggling to be fit with foot injuries.

Vieri, whose first season with Internazionale has been wrecked by ankle and foot problems, limped away from the Milan club’s Champions League play off win last night against Parma AC after only half an hour while AC Milan doctors have told captain Paolo Maldini to rest a foot injury and he may miss training until at least next week with Dino Zoff’s national team squad. Both players are certain starters for Zoff at Euro 2000 if they can prove their fitness with Vieri now seeming to be a major doubt.
