AC Milan ready to spend £30 million on Valencia pair

First Published: May 26, 2000

AC Milan are to sign two of the stars who helped Valencia reach the European Cup final.

The disappointing 3-0 defeat for Valencia is set to signal the break up of the side who took the club to the brink of the European title.

Their star Argentine striker Claudio Lopez is to move to Italian champions SS Lazio in a £23 million deal and Milan are close to sealing the transfer of defender Gerard and midfielder Francisco Farinos.

Gerard has been offered £2 million a year on a five year contract to move to Milan and the price of the pair will see Milan spend £30 million on the Spanish stars.

A fourth Valencia player could soon be in Serie A if Internazionale follow up their interest in Argentine winger Kily Gonzalez with a cash offer.
