UEFA Cup winners Galatasary want Gheorghe Hagi to be their next coach.

The Istanbul club are still trying to recover from the blow of losing four-time champion Fatih Terim yesterday to Fiorentina less than two weeks after the club won Turkey's first European trophy.

Romanian veteran has played for the last four years with Gala and was named today in the squad which Romania will take to Euro 200 next month.

Hagi will certainly quit the international team after Euro 2000 and was thought to be considering leaving the club game as well.

Galatasary have turned to Hagi as the prime candidate to succeed Terim who won a treble last season with the club.

Hagi would take over as player coach of the Istanbul club for next season unless he wanted to quit playing for good.
