AS Roma are considering a bid for Real Madrid defender Fernando Hierro according to 'Marca'.
Hierro missed Real's European Cup triumph last week with a recurrence of a hamstring injury which has disrupted his entire season with the Madrid club.
Hierro has still been named in the Spain squad to compete at Euro 2000 next month despite injury problems but the emergence of Ivan Campo in the Real defence has lessened the loss of the 32 year old this season. The former Valladolid defender has spent the last 11 years at Real but a cash offer from the Rome club could tempt Real to sell while Hierro can still command a cash sum in the transfer market and coach Del Bosque has alternatives in the squad.
