Denmark 1 Wales 2, October 10th 1998

Denmark lost all of their World Cup kudos with a humbling defeat at home to Wales.

The crowd in Copenhagen was silenced in disbelief by the performance of many players who were close to dumping then world champions Brazil out of the World Cup just three short months ago.

Wales managed to come back form behind with a brave second half display which eases the pressure on coach Bobby Gould to quit.

Soren Frederiksen gave the home side the lead after 58 minutes of a tense struggle when he met a driven cross and sent it into the net. Seconds later Welsh defender Adrian Williams had responded with a goal to equalise. The Welsh were missing their inspirational attacking force Ryan Giggs through injury but Craig Bellamy grabbed a winner with four minutes left.
