Spain lost their first match under new coach Jose Camacho in a low key Seville friendly which saw Argentina run out 2-0 winners.
The recent excellent progress of the Spanish national team under the former Real Madrid leader has only been partially disturbed by the defeat and they will be a major threat in the December 12th Euro 2000 draw next month.
The Spanish side showed several changes from the team that was dragged into stupour during a dismal 0-0 draw with Brazil last weekend and the home side failed to establish significant attacking rhythms in a plain first half.
Argentina improved in the second session and Kily Gonzalez scored th opening goal in the 63rd minute. Gonzalez - who plays in the Spanish league with Valencia - collected a rebound from goalkeeper Jose Molina after the Spaniard failed to hold onto a shot on the run from Ariel Ortega. The Valencia star went to ground ten metres out to deflect the ball over the line.
Maurico Pochettino ran into the area to intercept a cross in the 77th minute and finished from close range with the Spanish defence wrong footed.
